As a volunteer sustainability educator with the Environmental Center in Bend, Oregon, Maggie Smith, founder of SoundWave Listening Arts, augmented local school programs with workshops on sustainable garden practices. She contributed to the development of the Center’s organic community garden, the Kansas Avenue Learning Garden, where she also mentored students in decorative painting of the garden’s planter enclosures. Painting the Garden’s planters is an ongoing student project for the Environmental Center.
