Julia Hope Price and the New Mexico Alliance for Children

Julia Hope Price, M.A., has served as the executive director of the New Mexico Alliance for Children, an educational non-profit organization, since 2002. As director, she develops and implements art and literacy programs for disadvantaged youth. Julia was instrumental in developing The Alpha Effect, a Tomatis-based art, music, and listening program that can measurably improve a student’s reading, social, and sensory-motor skills.

Julia taught literature and writing at the high school and university levels, and created literacy and arts-in-education programs for both intermediate and secondary schools. She co-authored the textbook, Reflections: A Thematic Reader (Houghton-Mifflin), an outgrowth of the years during which she taught literature and writing classes at the University of New Orleans. In addition to teaching and writing, Julia is an accomplished artist and has painted professionally since 1980.
